Microbial Conversion of Sugar Cane Phytosterols by Fusarium Solani
ثبت نشده
چکیده
Air dried press cake of sugar cane (5 Kg) yielded on extraction with cold acetone 500 g of waxy residue which gave on saponification 150gm. Un-saponifiable matter. Gas chromatography and mass spectroscopic analysis of the present sterols revealed that the phytosterol mixture consists of βsit sterol (46.4%), stigma sterol (21.4%) and camp sterol (27.9 %).This sterol mixture was subjected to the activities of some selected locally isolated fungal strains. Fusarium solani was the most potent organism to produce 4androstenedione (AD) and 1,4 androstadiene 3,17 dione (ADD). The maximum yield of ADD (34.6%) was obtained in a medium containing (g/l) 0.15 MgSO4. 7H2O, 0.188, KH2PO4, 0.38, (NH4)2 HPO4, 0.1 , CaCl2. 2H2O, 0.29 , NaCl, 0.001 FeSO4 and 0.8 mg 8-hydroxyquinoline, pH 7.1at transformation time 48 hr, 30°C .

Lignocellulose-derived thin stillage composition and efficient biological treatment with a high-rate hybrid anaerobic bioreactor system
BACKGROUND This study aims to chemically characterize thin stillage derived from lignocellulosic biomass distillation residues in terms of organic strength, nutrient, and mineral content. The feasibility of performing anaerobic digestion on these stillages at mesophilic (40 °C) and thermophilic (55 °C) temperatures to produce methane was demonstrated. The microbial communities involved were fur...
متن کاملEffects of Okinawan sugar cane rind on serum and liver cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the rat.
Okinawan sugar cane rind was fed to Wistar strain rats to examine its effects on the serum and liver cholesterol (Chol) and triglyceride (TG). At the same time, the effects of sugar cane rind on the fecal excretion of neutral sterols of the rats were examined. There were no significant differences found in the food intakes and the liver weight between the rats fed with sugar cane rind and other...
متن کاملInfluence of glyphosate on Rhizoctonia and Fusarium root rot in sugar beet.
This study tests the effect of glyphosate application on disease severity in glyphosate-resistant sugar beet, and examines whether the increase in disease is fungal or plant mediated. In greenhouse studies of glyphosate-resistant sugar beet, increased disease severity was observed following glyphosate application and inoculation with certain isolates of Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn and Fusarium oxys...
متن کاملAcetic Acid Bacterial Biota of the Pink Sugar Cane Mealybug, Saccharococcus sacchari, and Its Environs.
Saccharococcus sacchari is the primary colonizer of the developing "sterile" tissue between the leaf sheath and stem of sugar cane. The honeydew secreted by the mealybugs is acidic (about pH 3) and supports an atypical epiphytic microbiota dominated by acetobacter-like bacteria and acidophilic yeast species. However, Erwinia and Leuconostoc species predominate within the leaf sheath pocket regi...
متن کاملDiversity and Activity of Lysobacter Species from Disease Suppressive Soils
The genus Lysobacter includes several species that produce a range of extracellular enzymes and other metabolites with activity against bacteria, fungi, oomycetes, and nematodes. Lysobacter species were found to be more abundant in soil suppressive against the fungal root pathogen Rhizoctonia solani, but their actual role in disease suppression is still unclear. Here, the antifungal and plant g...
